I know that it takes all kinds...

I have been reading this site for a while now, and it proves to be quite interesting in many respects; particularly for me in that the stories it tells are of real people. I have no idea as to its provenance or accuracy or truth, but it has a ring of honesty that is missing from many others…

Glimpse of Iraq

This particular thread is followed by this comment…

"Speaking as an American, I am very sorry we have failed you. In such an attack, you should expect and hope that nearly all of Amir's friends would be killed. To have only killed one is a very sad result. Certainly we will have to improve our productivity if the goal of creating a decent democratic Iraq is to be realized.

Amir wanted to prevent democracy. He wanted to prevent Iraq from becoming a free country where rights of all are protected. Because of his totally immoral and ignorant opinions, he was killed. We will do better the next time."

Naturally, and as one might expect from the rabies infested minds that produce this kind of garbage, it is by our old friend “Anonymous”.

A question to all you Americans who think that the war in Iraq is just and right.

Is this “Anonymous” thing representative of your nation, your thoughts?

You should expect that someone that "knows where he stands" and that voted for a president based on "moral values" would have the courage to comment on something by using his or her name.

"productive" killing to create "a free country", a "decent democratic Iraq"...a country rid of "immoral and ignorant" opinions. If only Anonymous had enough integrity to take off the mask, if only Americans had enough moral intelligence to see how they're really failing.

I do not like the way that was phrased, and I would never leave such a comment like that on a blog.

However, Amir was admittedly by the blog author a member of the 'resistance'. The American militaries purpose, supported by most of the American people and many of the people of Iraq is to defeat the resistance. This will likely mean killing a good majority of them.

I do in fact want the resistance defeated, not the least because that will be best for Iraq.

My first desire would be for Amir and the people like him to give up peacefully.

However, that is not likely to happen. Failing that, yes, I want them to be killed.

As an aside, from the way the Anonymous comment is structured, I would guess that the commenter is in fact against the Iraq war and trying to mock those that are for it. This is just a guess though, based upon the way some of the sentences are phrased.

I wondered about that too...but why then would they feel the need to leave their name out of the picture? And there is in air of dogmatic insistence that reeks of blind patriotism. I wish both sides would just realize the similarity of their situations and lay down arms. Hum. Time for me stop before the idealism starts.
